The Big Sing was a great success last Friday, as almost 2,000 pupils from schools across Manchester joined us at the spectacular Bridgewater Hall, coming together to celebrate the very best of Soul and Motown music! We enjoyed bringing new life to these timeless classics, bridging the gap between generations of music-lovers.
“What a fabulous morning Year 6 had at the Bridgewater Hall! We joined in with all the Motown hits and danced along from start to finish! Utterly fabulous!”
Dane Bank Primary School
Every year, we look forward to the Big Sing – a fantastic opportunity for children to experience the participatory element of live music, where performers respond to feedback from the audience and create music together in a wonderful exchange. With legendary hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and Jackson 5, this might have been one of our best events yet!
The performance was led by the sensational band on stage, showcasing their extraordinary talent and musical expertise. But above all, it was the pupils that stole the show with their incredible energy, jumping out of their seats to dance and singing their hearts out to every song. It was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces in the crowd, celebrating the magic of music together.
“What a fantastic morning Year 6 had singing and dancing at the Big Sing at the Bridgewater Hall! We are definitely all Soul and Motown fans!”

The One Education Music Team is involved in many exciting events throughout the school year, providing pupils with the opportunity to perform and make music together. Live events like the Big Sing give pupils the chance to create memories they can treasure for their rest of their lives. But crucially, these opportunities also play an important part in supporting children’s learning and development, inspiring confidence, creative expression, and building upon cultural capital.
