Meet The Literacy Team

Our team combines the knowledge and experience of leading experts in education, brought together by our shared ambition to support lifelong learning and
pupil achievement.

Jo has many years of school leadership experience, working with schools all over the North West and beyond. She works across Early Years, KS1 and KS2 delivering leadership support, whole school curriculum and Literacy support. She is lead moderator for KS1 and 2 in Oldham and monitors SATs and Phonics for Manchester. Jo is a self-confessed book addict who is passionate in supporting ALL children and staff in striving to be the best they can be.

HEAD OF EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Laura, a curriculum expert in KS1 and KS2 Reading for the DfE and an experienced lead moderator, specialises in providing bespoke training, monitoring and evaluation to schools across the curriculum, with a particular focus on English. She leads the One Education Reading Award and is passionate about ensuring every child becomes a fluent reader who loves to read.

LITERACY TEAM LEADER

Harriet Joined the team after being an associate working for the Literacy department from 2019. Prior to this she was an Assistant Headteacher at a school in Camden, London where she was EYFS Leader and Literacy Leader while teaching Year 6 part-time. Harriet is passionate about everything Early Years and Literacy.

SENIOR LEAD PRACTITIONER

Catherine studied English Language and Linguistics at the University of York before completing a Primary PGCE. Over the past 13 years, Catherine has worked at schools across the primary phase in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, including as an English Leader and Local Authority moderator. Catherine is passionate about Literacy and making all children feel happy, confident and successful in the classroom.

LEAD PRACTITIONER - LITERACY

Simone has worked in the education industry for over 25 years. After qualifying from Birmingham University with a degree in Education, she was employed as a Curriculum Buying Manager before becoming a teacher and English lead at primary schools across Greater Manchester. Over the past ten years, in addition to her school-based improvement work, Simone has also led initiatives borough wide to raise attainment. Simone has a passion for English and is particularly keen to raise the importance of Oracy and the spoken word in schools.
