We’re delighted to celebrate National School Governors’ Awareness Day, an important event that celebrates the role of school governors to improve the outcomes of children and young people. Most of their work goes on behind the scenes and without recognition, so today is a chance to thank them for the incredible contributions they make to their school communities.
This year, the theme for National School Governors’ Awareness Day is the governance of inclusion. Often, barriers to inclusion can be hidden in the details. Governors therefore play an invaluable role in monitoring and evaluating the evidence, whether it’s looking at attendance data, incidents of bullying and behaviour, reports from the SENDCo, or pupil voice and parental feedback. This allows them to ask questions and provide strategic challenge to ensure their school embraces the diversity of its community and delivers equality and equity for all.
Working with school governors and trustees across the North West and beyond, we see the fantastic work that governors do to place inclusion at the heart of their schools. We’re proud to take this opportunity to celebrate all their hard work, passion and dedication.
If you would like support with inclusion or any other aspect of school governance, One Education has developed a vast suite of training, networks and CPD to support you in your role.
Our virtual training focuses on a wide range of topics, including SEND provision, safeguarding, attendance, managing behaviour and exclusion, and more. Each training session can be accessed and paid for individually. Alternatively, subscribers to One Governor, our all-in-one support package, can access our full suite of training at no extra cost.
Governors will receive training certificates on completion that can be used to evidence governor self-development. Explore our online brochure to learn more about our Governor Training Programme for 2023-24.
