One Education brings together a team of talented and passionate individuals. We’re delighted to introduce you to Dan Smith, Head of IT. With over twenty years’ experience in IT, Dan brings a breadth of knowledge and skills to the team. We look forward to leveraging his expertise to continue to drive success, innovation, and growth in the schools and trusts we work with.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I’ve got 22 years experience in IT. I started out as an apprentice in education at the age of 16 and moved into supporting businesses after completing this. I’ve worked in multiple industries including, engineering, construction, financial and many more. This then lead me into working in external IT support for the last 10 years in multiple management roles. Over the years I’ve been able to build up many skills and offerings to external customers. In my free time I spend it with my wife and our 7 year old son. We enjoy having holidays together and family days out.
What is your current role?
My role in One Education is Head Of IT, my responsibilities including the day to day operation functions of all our support and consultancy services. We have a team of 20, where we offer everything from account management in IT, IT Strategy, MIS Support, IT Consultancy and IT Support.
What are you looking forward to about working with One Education?
I’m really looking forward to being able to add my own stamp onto the team. Even though my industry background hasn’t been education for a long time, I feel the skills I bring from the business world will align really well with education. This will allow One Education’s IT and MIS offerings to be really customer aligned. I want the schools to see One Education IT as an extension of their school, rather than just a service they use for when things are broken. I am also looking forward to learning about the schools and how we can help them in the growing testing times we currently all facing.
