This course enables you to familiarise yourself with the SEN module in SIMS, reflecting the SEND/SEN Code of Practice / ALN Code for Wales, and use it effectively and efficiently in school.
Course Objectives:
This course provides a detailed overview of the SIMS software for managing the SEND process in school in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice / ALN Code for Wales and is of benefit to SENDCo / ALNCo, Teaching Assistants and administrative staff who support the SENDCo / ALNCo.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Â navigate through SIMS
- Â manage and record details of reviews, events, and provisions
- Â manage students with additional education needs
- Â produce the SEN reports provided in SIMS
- Â edit lookup tables
- Â add linked adults, agents, and agencies
- Â send, receive, and view messages relating to SEN pupils
- Â configure your SIMS Home Page to help monitor SEN processes
Course Requirements:
An understanding of the local and national frameworks that apply to your school, and your school’s policy would be useful. If your role is the nominated SEND / SEN / ALN coordinator for your school you must ensure you understand these requirements which SIMS is intended to support.
